A Look into Cross Border Raids of DRG Units Using OSINT

Russo-Ukrainian war (late 2022 till late 2023 period)

Investigators/Authors: D. D, Paul Ha, Vyacheslav Kolomeets

"DRG" stands for Diversion Reconnaissance Groups. These groups are primarily operated by Special Operations Forces “SSO” teams, although most conventional units from both sides maintain their own DRG-mission capable teams. Their main tasks include sabotage and special reconnaissance missions.

Both Russia's GRU and Ukraine's GUR regularly deploy and coordinate these DRG teams in the battlespace. As DRG teams are known to infiltrate blindages (A cover or protection for an advanced trench or approach, formed of fascines and earth supported by a framework) in the early morning hours, eliminate entire positions, set up traps, and ambush routes along the front lines, they are on the minds of every grunt.

OSINT FOR UKRAINE exposes DRG activities by geolocating crossing points and uncovering war crimes by Russian groups like "Rusich." The investigation highlights the conflict's brutal realities.
